My little girl Ellie was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April of this year. She is just 5. She has done so very well after having gone through 2 surgeries and a month stay at MCV hospital in Richmond. We opted to go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN for treatment after surgery. Ellie's tumor was malignant and rather rare and St. Jude is the place that has the best recovery outlook for her type of cancer. We have completed the radiation part of our treatment and we have just started on our chemotherapy. Ellie will have 4 rounds of high dose chemo ending each round with a stem cell transplant. We have just finished round one. This has been the hardest part of our journey so far but Ellie continues to do well. She is so incredibly amazing and has been selected by St. Jude to be a spokeskid of sorts for them. She has filmed two commercials that will air this November-January. One is with Marlo Thomas and the other with Jennifer Aniston. Anyhoo- We know how creative you are and we just LOVE all your stuff and I would be so excited if you could do two things for us. First, if you could pray on Ellie's behalf for her to have a full recovery and no side effects from the chemotherapy that would be the best thing ever. Secondly, if you have any spare time in your week, would you consider sending Ellie a homemade card. She loves tickles the goldfish and I think she would think it's so cool to get a card similar to the paintings we have in our attic. Ellie has a card campaign called the Friends of Ellie and she loves to get cards in the mail from all over. It really makes her day so I would love it if you could do this for her. I know how busy you are with all your commissions so I can totally understand if you are too busy. Ellie has a website with all her updates and I would love to share that with you so you could follow her story. www.caringbridge.org/visit/ellie1

Below is the photo of Ellie and Emma wearing your T-shirts. Thank you again for any support you can offer her. We have always been big fans of Jelene.

huh? yeah, that's what i thought too.
i didn't really understand the cartoons on this kiddie ride. snoopy mixed in with graffiti type wall art... a drunk pelican with a cigar holding up a baby? oh yeah, great cartoons to put on the side of a kiddie ride. i'm probably the only person at the fair that even notices things like this.
A fun weekend project!! This is a great project for kids!!
Step 1- Lay out your designs on a 8x10 sized template in photoshop or your graphic program of choice. It says to lighten your designs to 50%, so that's what I did. It also says that you should set your printer to "transparencies" but mine doesn't have that, so I just set it for "thick paper" and just printed it normally... no photo setting as that would use too much ink I would imagine.
Step 2- Cut them out... and I left a white edge. Use a puncher to make a hole at the top if you want to make a charm.
Step 3- Preheat your oven to 275-300 degrees. Place them on cookie sheet (I used a pizza tray with holes on it) and put them on a brown paper bag. I didn't have a brown paper bag, so I cut a piece of brown shipping paper.
Step 4- Bake for 3-5 mins. This is fine if you have a newer oven, but this oven is old, from the 70's and takes twice as long. Adjust your cooking time accordingly. Watch 'em curl!!
Step 5- Wow, they shrink down a lot!
Step 6- Aww, look how cute they are!! I'm going to make tote bag charms and keychains out of these. I also sprayed them with a clear varnish. Super gloss clear Krylon for protection. Have fun!! :D
